Community Sports trust COVID-19 update

Following the announcement from the Prime Minister on Monday night, further advice and guidance has been released from the Premier League and EFL, and after much consideration the Trust and its management team have had to make the extremely difficult decision to withdraw from all direct activity effective Friday 27th March 2020.

We feel that in the present circumstances it is the responsible thing to do to ensure the ongoing safety and well-being of everyone in to community who we come into contact with and our own RUCST staff and volunteers.

This decision is made with a heavy heart as it goes against our desire to help people at an hour of need. However, we are also conscious that the Government’s new measures are not only to keep people safe, but also to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus, which is attacking some of our most vulnerable members in the community and we do not want to add to the escalating pandemic.

We do not want to put any additional pressures on establishments providing support for vulnerable people or those open to help key workers and therefore should an establishment need to close due to the unavailability of our staff, we will explore other avenues to support.

Staff have already indicated they are willing to continue to serve the community and we are increasing our digital presence with our staff increasing their remote workload to deliver our award winning services to the safety of your own home.

Safety is our number one priority to the people we work with and also our staff and we hope that more organisations follow suit and encourage people to stay at home and stay safe.
