My name is Matthew Edwards and I am 28 years old. I am currently the Education Manager at Rotherham United Community Sports Trust.
During my education I attended Newfield secondary school where I obtained three B’s and four C’s including maths and English. It was here where I developed an interest for sport and I continued to study this at college. I completed my BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport with distinction, merit, merit grades but decided that I would progress into work rather than education.
I worked at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield and with various coaching companies for three years, before deciding to go to Sheffield Hallam University to study Physical Education and Youth Sport, in which I qualified with a BSc First Class Honours Degree. Whilst at university I had to take part in a work experience module, as a result I was offered a part time paid teaching role with the Sheffield College and continued to do this whilst studying my third year. This opportunity sparked my passion for teaching and after completing my course I decided to enrol on a Post 16 PGCE.
After passing my PGCE at Level 7 I secured a full time Sports Lecturer position with Sheffield United Community Foundation where I worked for two years. This eventually led to my appointment as the Education Manager at Rotherham United Community Sports Trust where I currently work.
