Teenage Kicks Project
We specifically focus on engaging children in disadvantaged areas in Rotherham, to enable us to do this we have set up a successful project called Teenage Kicks that is funded by BBC Children In Need, where we work with children and young adults aged 10-19, we have achieved great outcomes over the 3 year period so far! Fantastic outcomes, such as developed tool kits targeting Nutrition and healthy eating and Body Image awareness and eating disorders, we have developed 10-12 week programs that focus on a wide variety health issues which includes plenty of physical activity and sound nutritional and healthy eating advice. Children in need have helped us develop an award winning Road Safety awareness DVD, budget cooking healthy recipe books, as well as developing vegetable and growing gardens in some of the most deprived communities in Rotherham.
We target ant-social behavior by engaging people in graffiti and street dance evening projects and much, much more! There is still lots of work to be done as health issues change and challenge us so rapidly! The health department are passionate about keeping up to date with current health research and changing and adapting our projects to suit the health needs of Rotherham as a community! Awards for all have helped us develop 30 weeks of health education within the youth sector working with diverse communities.
