As a Trust, we are proud to be able to offer quality sports and educational provision to a network of schools, groups and individuals throughout the calendar year. This is achieved through an extensive range of activities, each delivered by our highly skilled team of staff who are not only seen as coaches, but also positive role models by the many people that we come into contact with.
Currently we are delivering a wide variety of sessions that include reading programmes, PE provision, PPA, lunchtime clubs, after school clubs, matchday experiences, school sports programme, holidays clubs, pre school and sponsored penalty shootouts!
The main role of the Sports Development department is to focus on increasing participation in sport and physical activity for groups across Rotherham. This work is targeted towards young people in schools primarily but also underrepresented groups through our Girls and Women’s programme, disability and adult mental health initiatives.
A further element to our Sport Development work is our evening sports projects that work across Rotherham delivering activities to keep young people safe and engaged positively. Our work is guided and influenced by young people from the Great Millers Youth Forum. The Forum is made up of young people from across Rotherham who meet regularly to run their own projects under their own constitution.
We support grassroots sport through successful links to Rotherham United Women and Girls whilst also running two teams under our United 4 Communities banner. U4C brings diverse groups together from across Rotherham in an u16’s and adult competitive football team. Likewise we also run Rotherham’s only disability football teams at u14, 16 and 2 7 aside adult teams.
