Rotherham United Community Sports Trust were delighted to welcome some guests to New York Stadium in the form of a group of NCS participants as part of their social action project.
NCS is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for 15-17 year olds which helps build skills for work and life whilst taking on new challenges and meeting new friends.
This particular group were taking part in a sponsored walk from Hillsborough to the New York to raise money for a young person currently spending their time in a Surrey hospital after being hit by a car. All money raised is going to the family in order to cover travel costs to be able to see their son. The sponsored walk was said to be “symbolic of the journey, a long a strenuous one, that Akeems’ family makes down to Surrey” by groups NCS team leader.
NCS Recruitment Officer Levi Ashton said that “it’s always amazing to see the great ideas and hard work these young people put into their NCS social action. This is a truly inspiring project and you could see the bond that the group had after having fun and being independent on their NCS residential”
If you or your son/daughter is interested in this summer’s NCS there are still places available on wave 4 and 5. Contact Rotherham United Community Sports Trust on 01709 827767 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for information on how to sign up.
