RUCST celebrate a successful half-term with our Healthy Holiday Programme all across Rotherham

Our Healthy Holiday Camps have come to a close after a successful two weeks of fun, healthy, and exciting activities all across Rotherham. In partnership with local providers, eligible children aged 5-16 were given the opportunity to access a range of fun activities, healthy food, and a productive break over half-term. The activities we provided include multi-sports, boxing, swimming, dance, singing, acting, gymnastics, football, fitness, arts, drama, music, literacy and more.

It was important these children finished half-term with open mind to healthy living and nutrition, but most importantly giving eligible children access to fun and local activities offered in the community. Whether they attended The New York Stadium or one of our many other venues across Rotherham, our brilliant RUCST staff, coaches and guests show a lot of passion and support for this programme. We have had musicians, dancers, swimming tutors, boxing coaches, e-sports gamers and nutrition experts all show their skillset and support to show these children something new they can enjoy.

Overall we had over 400 participants book on to our Healthy Holiday Camps over the two weeks which is an amazing achievement and great to see for the Rotherham community. A huge thanks to the 10 different venues involved in joining us from Rotherham, Maltby, Wath & Aston Leisure Centres to Triple Threat Dancing, Dinnington Boxing, Raw Gym and of course The New York Stadium.

“It has been brilliant to see so many young people having a great time being active over Easter. Thanks to RMBC and DfE for providing this funding for us and to all our partners, People 4 Places, Leisure Centres, RAW Gymnastics, Dinnington Boxing Club, Triple Threat Theatre Academy for opening their facilities and providing their staff and expertise, to RMBC school meals catering for feeding the children and FareShare South Yorkshire for the additional snack and drinks. Finally to the whole team at RUCST. Without our dedicated team none of this would be possible.

A final thank you to RMBC, FareShare Rotherham and DfE for the funding and support throughout this programme, especially for the healthy and nutritious meals provided for all of the children who attended.

We’re already planning for the summer and cant wait to start taking bookings, so watch this space!”
