EDUCATION | Will Barber’s Educational Journey

Will Barber progressing his Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching & Development.

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust aim to provide knowledge and skills to students to enhance employment opportunities and build on their careers. Will has been at RUCST since 2017, starting his journey in further education in partnership with University of South Wales.

The various study programmes combine academic studies with a practical sporting experience and are aimed at young people who have a passion for sport and a desire to progress to University or employment within the sporting industry.

Kirsty Maxey, the Assistant Education Manager and Degree Mentor at Rotherham United Community Sports Trust says:

“Following his successful journey so far, Will has shown determination throughout to develop his knowledge and practical delivery skills within the coaching environment. Due to this he has increased his confidence and progressed as a Community Sports Coach”

“This has resulted in Will gaining employment with RUCST working in a range of schools and leading on sessions and projects throughout different departments. At the beginning of Wills’ journey, he was very quiet and would only communicate with limited people and to see where Will is today is a great achievement and is something that he should be proud of.”

Will has more progression coming his way if he continues performing and challenging himself like he is. He is seen as a valued student and member of staff here at RUCST!
