The AIM of our alternative provision is to use the power of sport to support and engage young people in secondary school who may have become disengaged from mainstream education. The programme informs young people of the career opportunities within the sports and public services industry and encourages them to make positive choices with respect to their own wellbeing, their relationships with others and their futures.
What the Learners Can Achieve:
We have worked with several schools over the last 18 months using a ‘careers in sport’ model, however we have now developed it further to make it more valuable for schools and in particular the young people we are working with. We believe the introduction of the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award alongside the OCR Level 1/2 Cambridge National Award in Sport Studies will allow the young people to achieve an accredited qualification (included on 2020 Performance Tables) alongside developing personal skills and confidence to help them in their careers.
The structure is half day per week, however we want to maintain the element of flexibility to ensure we can tailor the programme to meet the needs of each school. With this in mind there are now different pricing structures starting at £27.50 per person, per session.
