Rotherham United Community Sports Trust are delighted to announce that they will be working as an exclusive partner with Places Leisure to provide high quality football and sports activities in Rotherham’s first class leisure venues.
The club has always had great links with Places Leisure with the first team regularly using the facilities including the swimming pools and spinning rooms, and now the Trust will be working in partnership with Places Leisure for a number of years by expanding this partnership further to provide more opportunities for children and families in Rotherham.
Mini Millers is the youngest element to the Future Stars Talent Pathway and is linked by the Trust to the Rotherham United Academy and aims to start children from just 18 months old learning the FUNdamental’s of good physical activity and football skills using the Rotherham United philosophy which is the golden thread through our footballing offer.
Rotherham United Academy now has 30% of their intake from 8 years old who have come through the Future Stars pathway and this continues to grow term on term.
Currently Mini Millers and Future Stars is ran from Parkgate Astro, Rawmarsh and the AESSEAL New York Stadium and now the link with Places Leisure offers more weekly football sessions in the Town indoors to ensure the weather is never a factor.
Head of Community Jamie Noble said: “It is more important than ever to offer these additional Future Stars and Mini Millers sessions due to impact of Covid. We are passionate about wanting to get people active and enjoying sport again.”
“Since returning to play we have been inundated with parents wanting their children to get involved in football with the Millers and after having conversations for over a year now is the time to expand our football offer using the great partnership we have with Mark Rawding and Emily Newman. The Facilities they provide are some of the best in the town and as the towns professional club we want to make sure we are using the best facilities and the centres at Maltby, Aston and soon to be the Town Centre are ideal. “
Football Development Coach Adam Pilgrim said: “I’m delighted that we have the opportunity to be able to expand our programme in partnership with Places Leisure.
