Our sports participation department at RUCST are on a mission to increase the participation in football, sport and physical activity in schools across Rotherham.
At RUCST, we are committed to working with children from an early age to ensure they have the opportunity to experience a range of sports and physical activities which will set them up for a longer, healthier and happier life.
We are passionate about helping children to create positive physical activity habits that they will carry with them into adulthood.
Here are some of the projects we run that your school can get involved with:
Premier League Primary Stars
This project uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs such as RUFC in order to inspire children to learn, be active and to develop important life skills.
Premier League Primary Stars is designed to appeal to and benefit both boys and girls from year one to six in primary schools, with age appropriate resources mapped to the national curriculum.
Primary Stars is available to every Primary School in England and Wales, and it provides free digital resources to cover subjects from maths and English to teamwork and sport.
School competitions range from football tournaments to reading challenges; and club delivery includes support to improve teachers’ confidence in delivering PE sessions. Premier League values underpin everything on offer, encouraging children to be ambitious, inspiring, connected and fair.
Joy of Moving Programme
The aim of this programme is to ‘increase movement among children across the world’.
The Joy of Moving Programme is a key component of the Ferrero CSR programme, which has enabled us at RUCST to deliver FREE Sport and Health sessions to year 5 + 6 pupils to over 30 primary schools across Rotherham.
The project aims to deliver key health messages to pupils in preparation for their transition to secondary school. These messages help to provide them with a wealth of knowledge around nutrition/healthy eating, the human body, general health, sport and exercise and the importance of hydration.
If you are interested in any of the programmes listed above, or require more information on how to make bookings, don’t hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit our website www.rucst.co.uk .
Mr Wheeler from Thrybergh Fullerton Primary School said:
“This year has been a much more challenging year for PE in schools and the offer of virtual lessons from RUCST was very welcome as it offered a bit of variety for our children rather than the same teacher voice they had been listening to for weeks!
The teachers whose classes accessed these online sessions were all impressed with the manner and professionalism of the delivery and engagement from the members of staff at RUCST.
Each teacher praised the manner that James Marsh (School Sport Co-ordinator at RUCST) had with the children, and they expressed how engaging and fun the sessions were for their pupils.
James Marsh’s team spirit and flexibility shone through with his fun and engaging sessions to meet the children’s needs displayed how he is an absolute credit to the organisation he represents. He has built up a brilliant relationship with the staff and students of the school.“
