RUCST celebrate refugee project at Shrewsbury Fixture
Last weekend, RUCST invited over 40 refugees housed in Rotherham to be part of a Matchday experience here at the New York Stadium.
The event, funded by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) in line with their CMF project brought individuals housed in Rotherham to celebrate the end of their recent project. Throughout lockdown, RUCST have supported these hotels with football provision, health & wellbeing activities, materials and created a greater cohesive experience for these individuals throughout the pandemic.
The day also shined a light on the continued battle against racism and discrimination through our partnership with Kick It Out. Football is everyone’s game and there is no place for racism or discrimination. If you see, hear or witness an incident, please report it at www.kickitout.org or alternatively download the app at Kick It Out – Apps on Google Play or Kick It Out on the App Store (apple.com)
Our United 4 Communities sessions echo the values and ethos of our club and Kick it Out, bringing together different religions, races and communities through the love of football. Our sessions are free to attend and take place every Friday 4-5pm at Parkgate Astro (23 Greasbrough Road, Rotherham, S62 6HQ). For more information or to get involved, head over to Rotherham United CST | PL Kicks Session locations (rucst.co.uk)
If you’re a local refugee looking for activities in your area please contact our inclusion department at email@example.com or alternatively call us on 01709827767.
