RUCST Mayor’s charity nomination

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust are delighted to say we have been selected as one of Rotherham Mayor Cllr Jenny Andrews and Mayoress Jeanette Mallinder’s three chosen charities to support during their time in office. To receive this backing builds upon RUCST’s reputation as one of the leading sports trusts in the north of England, winning the North East and Yorkshire community club of the year 2018.

The three charities to be chosen by the Mayor for the coming year are RUCST, Shiloh and Rotherham Hospice. With a further four benefiting from fundraising throughout the year, Rotherham Samaritans, Rotherham Parent Carer forum, Thornberry Animal Sanctuary and New Life Church. The benefits and exposure we will receive from the Mayor’s nomination allows us to reach a wider audience around Rotherham and continue to build upon the award-winning work we currently deliver.

Through the power of football, RUCST delivers a wide range of high-quality programmes supporting the community of Rotherham and enhancing the lives of our residents, delivering to over 61,000 participants over the last year. Working under four main themes: Education, Health and Wellbeing, Inclusion and Sports Participation there is a range of projects for all ages, abilities and backgrounds. As well as BTEC’s and foundation degrees for teenagers looking to progress into the sporting industry or further university education.

Jamie Noble, Head of Community said “We are honoured to have been chosen by the Mayor and Mayoress to be one of the chosen charities for their year in office. We are passionate about the work we deliver and the difference it makes in the town. Huge credit must go to my staff for their tireless dedication, to the schools and community groups we work with for continued support for the sessions we deliver. It would be amiss if I didn’t mention the other charities; we have long standing partnerships with both the Hospice and Shiloh who do some amazing work for the town in the form of supporting the ill or elderly and those experiencing homelessness. We look forward to a great year working with these two organisations’ and that the public can support our fundraising efforts for the upcoming year.”
